An Informal Poll. I Need Your Advice.

14 Dec

So Christmas will mark one year since my husband and I started TTC…sort of.

This is where you come in. This cycle will mark one year since we “pulled the goalie” and started trying to get pregnant. However, over the course of this past year I know for a fact that there were at least 3 months where we missed our fertile window due to my husband being out of town and me needing a TTC break. So, here’s my question: Does this mean we have been trying for a year? Or is this only our 10th cycle and therefore, we have not been trying for year?

I’m wrestling with the idea of making an appointment with an RE, but I want to make sure that my timing is correct before I waste my time and money. Do I make an appointment now? Or wait two more months?

If you are new to my blog, just a little background:

-In July (after a super wonky cycle) I had my CD 3 labs done which showed elevated Prolactin, but everything else looked fine.

-I made an appointment with an endocrinologist (not an RE) who had me start taking my BBT which he determined showed that I was ovulating and he called my charts “textbook.”

-In October I repeated my DC 3 labs and the prolactin returned to normal. Never really found out why this can happen.

-My cycles are super regular. Every 28 days with the exception of July when it was a week late and I got a positive pee test, but a negative blood test. (Possible false positive). This past month AF was also 6 days late, which leads me to believe that maybe I didn’t ovulate but I don’t know for sure because of course this month I didn’t take my BBT for the whole month because my GYN told me to “chill out.” Probably a mistake.

Anyway, that’s a brief account of where I stand. Confused.

So, what do you think? If you would like to expand upon your poll answer please feel free to do so in the comments. At this point, I will welcome any (well-meaning) advice that I can get. Thanks!

I see where you’re coming from and agree with your logic, but I think my opinion is: they don’t have to know that you missed your fertile window for 2 cycles. It’s still been a year and why continue to put it off? there could be something really simple that’s wrong and hopefully a trip to the RE can find an easy and fast solution. I don’t know what that could be, but if you’re that regular, then I’d be hopeful it’s nothing major. At this point, Why wait? Good luck!

I think in my heart I know this is the right choice to make, but I also think I might be in denial 😦 Every month I tell myself “just one more month” and then somehow those months added up and suddenly it’s been a year. I’m just going to suck it up and call to make the appointment today. Thanks for your advice.
