Final Days of April Challenge Days #29 and #30…and a Question

30 Apr

Day 29: What is your favorite book?

This is a really hard question to answer because I read a lot of books. But if I have to choose one absolute favorite I will go with To Kill A Mockingbird. I must have read this book at least 10 times and every time I love it just a little bit more. In fact, since the very first time I read it (maybe when I was 14) I have wanted to name my daughter Harper after the author, Harper Lee.

Day 30: After a month of infertility talk, we need a distraction. Give us a link to one of your favorite non-infertility sites, or tell us your favorite distraction activity/book/feel good movie.

Honestly, most of my internet time is spent on WordPress or Google Reader catching up on blog reading. A few of the other sites I check out occasionally are, of course, Pinterest. And sometimes I like to read Damn You Autocorrect.

….So now I have a question for your veteran OPKers. Yesterday was CD 9 and I got a second line on my OPK but it wasn’t darker than the test line so I know it wasn’t positive. But does this mean that I will be ovulating soon? Should it just keep getting darker like a pregnancy test? I ask because this would be really early for me to ovulate. Usually, O doesn’t happen until CD 14 when I am not taking Clomid, which I am not taking this month.

after many hours of stress and frustration I switched to the digital OPK’s- def worth the money!!! line on the reg ones should get darker than control line IF you detect your LH surge. I am not sure if you do or not, but have you/do you chart? I learned a ton about my cycle and it helped me understand the OPK’s- it is a pain though 🙂

I’m thinking that I might have to make the switch. I used to chart but stopped a couple of months ago when I started seeing my RE. Since I’ve been on Clomid I get so many sonograms per month so it wasn’t necessary to chart anymore, although I am considering going back….Now I have been spotting so who knows what the heck is going on????

I’m def not a veteran OPKer but I thought you’re always supposed to have two lines? The one cycle I did “analog” (I like that, Robyn) OPKs, I always had a second line but it never got darker than the control. That’s why I went to digital too. But it could be different you… if you don’t normally get two lines, then this is perhaps a sign you’ll be O’ing soon.

I hope so, but I am thinking of picking up some digital ones just in case. Thanks!

I tried an analog OPK once and was so confused I just shelled out the money for the digital. But I kept reading the strips inside the digital (like when you pop them out to throw them) as analog, because you can see the lines there anyway.

Ha, I do that with the digital pregnancy tests…just in case 🙂

Yes it will get darker, but as for soon its hard to say. Especially depending on how dark the second line is. Usually they get darker each day closer to O, but not always. Just keep testing till you get the positive!

Thanks! I’ve tested two days since then and they both showed up with just a control line. I hope I didn’t miss it! But that would have been super early for me.

highly doubtful that early. Keep testing!
